warmth on the wind

Can you hear the whisper over the pin drop?
The wind carries the news across the sea.
The war keeps us apart, but I dream of feeling your warmth next to me.

Can you see the stars through the morning mist?
The full moon shows the truth that the shadows hides.
The ocean separates the land, but I see your smile whenever I close my eyes.

Can you smell the spring grass through the powder smoke?
The new morning’s light brings the cleansing rains.
Nights outlast the days, but as I sit by this gentle yew,
while dreaming gentle thoughts of you,
I taste your lips and it breaks away my chains.
